This velvet two piece suit by Turkish-born designer Rifat Ozbek comes from his critically acclaimed F/W 1989 collection, and featured not only on the runway but also in several editorials of the era including US Vogue & The New York Times Magazine and the advertising campaign for that season. Pieces from this collection, including the longer coat version of this jacket, were also selected by the Fashion Museum in Bath as 'Dress Of The Year' in 1989, a designation awarded to a design that 'encapsulates the prevailing mood of fashion, represents the past year and captures the imagination.' A super luxe take on the tracksuit, the suit comprises a padded bomber jacket in eggplant, violet & hunter green velvet with gold metallic floral embroidery & sequin embellishments & leopard print lining along with a matching pair of high waisted pants. A sumptuous & exotic piece that nods towards the designer's heritage & dates to one of his most significant collections, this set is made in Italy and in mint condition.
