The exact origins of this piece are somewhat of a sartorial mystery - the label says Tom Ford era Rive Gauche, the style is undoubtedly a callback to the S/S 1993 Haute Couture collection dress famously photographed backstage by Roxanne Lowit but the precise provenenace of this beauty eludes us. Given that this was discovered at the famous Clignacourt flea market in Paris and that there is no size or care label, our best guess is that this is a sample that was never shown on the runway or put into production - but that itself is hard to fathom because the construction on this piece is JAWDROPPING. Fashioned entirely from layers of ruffled, stretchy silk chiffon to give a frothy, cupcake effect, this light as a feather dress features internal boning through the bust & waist, and multiple layers of frills through the skirt. Fastening with an invisible zipper and hook and eye at the back, this in mint condition & very likely the only one of its kind.
